SAS Cargo and WebCargo by Freightos will partner for upcoming launch of fully digital eBooking, dynamic rates and specific capacity via the world’s leading air cargo platform for forwarders.
Today SAS Cargo announces that WebCargo by Freightos will become the first user of SAS Cargo’s digital APIs. The aim is to provide freight forwarders with a 21st century cargo customer experience. Via WebCargo by Freightos, SAS Cargo’s dynamic rates, capacity and eBookings will be instantly available to 1,500+ freight forwarders and more than 26,000 unique users around the world, representing more than 30% of the world market.

Unlike other digitization approaches, WebCargo by Freightos enables direct API connectivity, which means the entire eBooking process happens online. When a freight forwarder selects a rate, the booking is transmitted to the cargo carrier instantly, digitally, without any manual process.

1st of June, 2018. the Chinese Customs Authorities announced a strict enforcement of regulations for import carrier manifest. Freight forwarders were to secure additional information included in the “OCI” (Other Customs and Regulatory Control Information) element of the FWB/FHL (FWB version 16 or higher / FHL version 4). As per November 15th 2019, the official decree 144 of the GACC (General Administration of Customs of the P.R. China), states that all shipments to China no longer require the following data elements:

We will not mandate that data on acceptance. If you do not wish to change your process, it is fine to continue sending the messages as you are doing. SAS Cargo’s President & CEO, Leif Rasmussen, inaugurated this year’s FlyPharma Europe in Copenhagen by highlighting that the responsibility for healthcare does not stop at national borders. “Staying or getting healthy is not just a topic for us as individuals or the responsibility for us as individuals. It is a shared task - a global task”, said Leif Rasmussen. Leif Rasmussen underlined that together with pharmaceutical companies, the pharma transportation industry has a responsibility to secure and provide access to high-quality healthcare and necessary medicines, no matter where people live in the world. “The 3rd goal in the 2030 United Nations Agenda for Sustainable Development speaks specifically of improving access to medicines for patients who need them the most and ensuring healthy lives for all. Air freight plays a vital role in making sure that temperature sensitive shipments containing lifesaving medicines can reach the patients on time and in a safe condition”, said Leif Rasmussen in his opening speech. In this context, Leif Rasmussen underlined the importance of collaboration through the entire supply chain of pharma transport. He also emphasized that high quality and digitalization of pharma transport are key factors in order to provide global access to lifesaving medicines and vaccines. Rasmussen continued to tell a fully booked event, hosting a global audience of pharma and logistic professionals, that “Transparency is not just a buzzword but a necessity to simplify a complex supply chain. In order to offer the pharmaceutical manufacturer reassurance that their valuable goods have reached its’ destination in immaculate condition, SAS Cargo has developed a new, multipurpose tracking device that will offer full transparency and security of the entire transport”. Rasmussen further mentioned that SAS Cargo is currently investigating how to use drones in their future air cargo offerings. He urged the audience to join SAS Cargo in exploring how drones can be integrated into the logistics system of the Oresund region. Leif Rasmussen ended his presentation with addressing the importance of taking action to combat climate change and its impact. SAS Cargo sustainability agenda was displayed, and the audience got some detailed information on what SAS and SAS Cargo is doing to reduce the CO2 footprint and what future actions are being initiated to reshape air transport with sustainability in focus. For example, SAS/SAS Cargo is receiving their first of eight coming A350 aircraft this month. The A350 is the most fuel-efficient aircraft in the world, reducing CO2 emission by approximately 30%. On October 27 our Winter 2019/20 Schedule will begin. One of the big changes compared to previous schedules is that our Los Angeles route will move from Stockholm to Copenhagen on January 13.
Compared to last year’s winter schedule other changes include:
• The Stockholm-Los Angeles (ARN-LAX) and subsequently Copenhagen-Los Angeles (CPH-LAX) route now has a fixed weekly schedule with operations on all days but Tuesdays. Before the non-operational day would change between Wednesday and Sunday.
• The cargo capacity will also increase when the Los Angeles route moves to Copenhagen, as it will be operated by an Airbus A340 instead of an A330-Enhanced.
• The Copenhagen-Washington D.C. (CPH-IAD) route now operates daily without a two month period of operating six days a week.
• The weekly schedules to Miami (MIA) from Copenhagen/Stockholm/Oslo now only change once on November 24. Compared to the Summer 2019 Schedule:
• The Stockholm-Miami (ARN-MIA) route will be reinserted with two weekly frequencies.
• The Copenhagen-Boston (CPH-BOS) route will have a winter break from November 24 and will be reinserted in the summer 2020.

You will now be able to Save and Remove previously searched Air Waybill numbers. Swipe from right to left on the Air Waybill number to remove or save.
You will now also have a lot more information on your shipment than in the previous version. Information like the one you have when tracking via our website:
In the tracking event section you have the option to switch between Timeline View or List View.
Timeline view is a new way of seeing you shipment tracking in the SAS Cargo app.
We also kept the List View as many customers are used to look at this view when they track a shipment.
Note: For each Milestone you can now get more information if you click on each milestone event in both views.

The two giant pandas, Mao Sun and Xing Er, who flew from Beijing to Copenhagen with SAS Cargo on the 4th of April have now happily settled into their new home at Copenhagen ZOO.
Last Wednesday, Denmark’s Queen Margrethe officially opened the panda enclosure together with Crown Princess Mary, the Chinese Ambassador to Denmark Deng Ying and the Danish Minister of Culture, Mette Bock. Many other distinguished guests, including Chinese official representatives and members of the Danish business community, attended this prestigious event.
The pandas have already proven very popular — 5,000 people showed up for last Thursday’s public opening.
The pandas moving to Copenhagen from the Chengdu Panda base is a gesture of goodwill from the president of China, Xi Jinping, following Her Majesty the Queen of Denmark’s State Visit to China in 2014. SAS Cargo flew these VIP travelers to their new home in the specially prepared transport cases in the forward compartment of SK996 on the 4th of April and they landed safely at Copenhagen Airport where they were transferred onto a pandadecorated truck before reaching their final destination at the ZOO.

On April 4, SAS Cargo had the pleasure of bringing the two giant pandas Mao Sun and Xing Er from Beijing to Copenhagen. The pandas moving to Copenhagen from the Chengdu Panda base is a gesture of goodwill from the president of China, Xi Jinping, following Her Majesty the Queen of Denmark’s State Visit to China in 2014.
Mao Sun and Xing Er traveled in two separate, customized boxes in the forward compartment of SK996 – which was named “Panda2” for this special flight - from Beijing to Copenhagen. The aircraft was specially decorated for the occasion with images and names of the two pandas.
"Panda2” arrived on time at the Vilhelm Lauritzen terminal in Copenhagen where media eagerly waited together with a reception committee of Ministers, Ambassadors and other VIP invitees. Speeches were held while Mao Sun and Xing Er were moved from the aircraft to the specially decorated truck that took them the final stretch to Copenhagen ZOO.
All went very well, and the two pandas are now happily resting and eating in their new home at Copenhagen ZOO, ready to receive keen visitors when the ZOO officially opens on April 11.
