SAS Cargo's CO2 footprint



SAS Cargo's main source of CO2 emissions are from 

1. Jetfuel we use when transporting freight and mail. 
2. Trucking diesel when transporting freight on road.  
3. Waste.  
4. Energy use (on ground).

SAS sustainability goals

2030 goals

  • 25% lower CO2 emissions compared with 2005 (absolute emissions)
  • 17% biofuel used – equivalent to the total SAS domestic production
  • 50% noise reduction compared with 2010
  • 100% sustainable materials in the SAS customer offering
  • 100% recycling where possible 

2050 goals

  • >50% lower CO2 emissions compared with 2005 (absolute emissions)

SAS Cargo goals - 2019 - 2022

  • Annual reduction of 2% CO2 emissions from trucking per TKM
  • 75% of our customers consider SAS Cargo to be an environmentally aware company 
  • Supporting SAS: 2030/2050 CO2 emission reduction targets

  • Biofuel use – we used 100 tonnes of biofuels in our daily operations in FY2018. The fuel was used on flights from Stockholm.
  • Preem agreement in place: A letter of intent was signed with Preem to supply SAS with potentially 200,000 m3 of biofuel from 2022/23, which corresponds to 10-12% of SAS total fuel demand.
