SAS Cargo CEO resigns
President and CEO for SAS Cargo Group A/S, Kenneth Marx, has informed SAS’ group management that he wishes to resign from his position as leader of SAS Cargo during the summer 2009.
In consequence of the Core SAS strategy and challenging market conditions, SAS Cargo has completed a thorough transition over the past months. With this internal restructuring process completed, SAS Cargo is now geared for the future, and it seems natural for me to step down, and let new forces take over, says Kenneth Marx, who will continue as SAS Cargo CEO until a successor has been found.
Kenneth Marx became President and CEO of SAS Cargo in 2004, and under his management SAS Cargo has expanded its network and services and achieved the best result ever, both in terms of revenue and market shares. At the same time SAS Cargo has been at the front edge of introducing new business standards for airfreight equipment and processes like the newly developed temptainer, e-freight, quality and environment certification.
During the last six months the air cargo industry has experienced an unprecedented down-fall in volumes and market demand due to the international economic crisis. On this background SAS Cargo has downsized the organization and implemented the Core Cargo strategy that focuses on providing air cargo capacity on SAS’ routes.
The new SAS Cargo is a specialized carrier with a high quality profile, innovative ideas and a finely-meshed Scandinavian network. SAS Cargo has the competences to ensure future success, but it is a widely different company from what it was five years’ ago, when Kenneth Marx took over. Therefore it is natural for him to seek new challenges elsewhere.
