SAS and SAS Cargo’s environmental work has been in progress for more than a decade. Some milestones are:
- First environmental report in 1995 (audited 1997)
- Started biofuel projects in 2000
- Emission Calculator for cargo since 2000
- Member of UN Global Compact since 2003
- SAS Cargo ISO14001 certified since 2006
- Carbon Neutral – voluntary part of agreements with customers in 2008
- SAS Cargo takes active part in e-freight projects in 2008
- Green approaches to Arlanda, national and transatlantic, from 2006
- Project with Airbus, choosing the optimal transatlantic flight levels in 2008
- Improved transport technology (Temptainer and aluminium profiles) in 2008
- Received the EMAS Certificate and is now the only airline in the world to have both the ISO14001 Certificate and the EMAS Certificate, September 2010
