All forms of transport are, by definition not environment-friendly, transportation by air included. Today, commercial air transport accounts for about 2% of global CO2 emissions, corresponding to 12% of the transport sector’s global emissions. SAS and SAS Cargo is committed and aim to reduce the environmental impact of our transport. The goal is to reduce the air emissions by 20% in 2015. SAS Cargo is also committed to reduce energy consumption on the ground.
SAS is certified with ISO14001. SAS is one of the few airlines in the world that has certified its entire organization.
We work strategically to provide environmental and sustainability focus in all our activities. One example of such an initiative is the unique environmental calculator on www.sascargo.com, where customers can calculate the environmental effects of a given transport.
This is just one of many initiatives. For more information, SAS’s Sustainability Report can be downloaded here.
